I believe personal success is a result of positive and supportive relationships built within the community. My passion is to help people, my goal is to live purposefully and make a difference. I am guided by faith not eyesight, which is why I am the Executive Director for Leman Educational Foundation.
I am an only child and growing up I wanted to be like my father - strong, successful and caring. I dreamed of having qualities like my mother - kind, compassionate and a world-class cook! I spent most weekends camping, hunting, fishing and four-wheeling with dad, Sundays I wore a dress (to make mom happy) to Church and summers were spent on our family ranch in Texas. My sense of values, morals and personal strength has always come from my parents.
Native to Arizona, I graduated Sabino high school in 1995 and studied Criminal Justice, Business Finance and Sociology at the University of Arizona. I met Brian my first year in college and we married October 1999. We have three children - William, Weston and Willow, a Leman Scholar. My children have taught me far more about life than I could have ever taught them.
After ten wonderful years of being a stay at home mother, I returned to the workforce January 2012 and began working as a producer for State Farm. April 2013 I was contracted as a Financial Representative with Guardian Life Insurance Company of America and specialized in Retirement and Estate planning, Business Succession Planning, Charitable Gifting and Planned Giving Concepts. Throughout my career I earned awards such as; Client Builder Tier I, II and III, Annuity Circle of Excellence, Million Dollar Round Table, Leaders Club, Guardian Executive Committee member and Agent of the Year Award - the first time Arizona had been recognized for such an award. I have been featured in various magazine articles and videos for my involvement and unique planning concepts relating to non-profit organizations.
As Executive Director for Leman Educational Foundation and in support of Leman Academy of Excellence, I am determined to make this world a better place for my children and your children. They deserve better. Winston Churchill said it best “NEVER, NEVER, NEVER QUIT”.
Born and raised in England I met my husband in Germany and moved to America to join him in 2007. We have four daughters, and as an active duty military family we have a lived in seven states, with more to be added to the list. I will one day have a t-shirt with the slogan “Marry a Soldier See the World!"
Through the military, I have spent many volunteer hours as a Family Readiness Group (FRG) Leader, event organizer, group coordinator, steering committee member, receiving the Commanders Award for Public Service in 2013 (now called the Public Service Commendation Medal).
Our arrival in Arizona began our relationship with Leman Academy as one of our daughters entered first grade. I volunteered as the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) President shortly afterward and was welcomed with opened arms. Initially, we had a small base of active volunteers, but with different approaches to volunteer recruitment, events and fundraising the PTO is thriving.
I am a people person and will talk to anyone, I wish the US had a bigger public transport system as there are so many interesting people you get to meet on those journeys! Having worked in a wide range of fields from executive assistant to tax preparer via tracing agent and special educational needs teacher, to name but a few, I carry an eclectic bag of skills.
Military life puts us in a position to continually embrace change, think on our feet and prepare for all things. I have learned that life is short and must be navigated with grace, intelligence, humor and good quality notebook and pen in hand at all times!
I was a dedicated athlete in High School which lead to a scholarship to the University of Oklahoma. I completed my BA in Communication in the 4 years they paid for and returned to my home town of Bisbee, AZ. (Don’t ask me about the autographed footballs that would be worth a fortune today!)
In Bisbee, I joined my father-in-law in the insurance business. I eventually bought that agency and continue in the insurance business to this day. In 2012, I accepted the position of pastor of Sonoita Bible Church and this continues to be a position I hold with tremendous honor.
I believe in education. It has been said that our formal education might end but our learning must never end (Not sure who I stole that from). Because of that, I have focused on learning more for my 2 professions. I have become a Certified Risk Manager for Churches & Schools through a program from Cambridge University (Yes, that Cambridge!). I have earned the CIC & CISR designations, and currently enrolled in the CRM program from The National Alliance for Insurance Education. I have also obtained several continuing education certificates from Western Seminary.
I enjoy serving. I serve my clients by getting to know them and providing the appropriate insurance coverage. I serve my community as a chaplain at the local fire department. Through the years I have served with the Bisbee Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis International and The Gideons International.
I want to help people thrive! This is the focus of my risk management and pastoral work. I believe everyone has the opportunity to thrive in this life, but many don’t because they don’t have the proper tools to do so. Education is a vital step in getting people to a place where they can thrive.
Duffy McMahon graduated from Ottawa University, receiving honors in both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Psychology.
For 20 years Duffy has specialized in stress, anxiety, and sleep disorders incorporating a variety of modalities including Neurofeedback, hypnosis, Light and Sound, Cranial Electro-stimulation and Primary Colors Personality testing. Duffy not only provides support on a conscious level, she helps clients delve into their subconscious / unconscious minds, to confront and manage obstacles that prevent them from leading a healthier and more productive life.
Duffy is a Primary Colors Personality Expert and is certified in Anger and Stress Management, EEG Neurofeedback, Hypnotherapy and studied with the Simonton Cancer Clinic. Duffy is a member of the American Counseling Association, The National Guild of Hypnotists, Inc. The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists.
She writes a regular blog on her website www.duffymcmahon.com and is a regular contributor to the Arizona Republic Opinion Page. A regular guest on both radio and television because of her expertise on the contemporary issues of the day, Duffy is sought out as a speaker by civic groups and organizations, Duffy facilitates workshops on love, compassion, relationships and mindfulness at her office The Lighthouse.
Married to Pat McMahon for almost 36 years, they own The Idea Factory, a creative consulting firm serving both corporate and non-profit clients. Duffy has received numerous awards over the years including the Jaycee's "Young Woman of the Year", "The Humanitarian Award" from The Malta Center, and she and Pat, were named "The First Family in the Arts" from the Herberger Theater.
Mr. Lawson has more than 19 years of experience in the Financial Industry with 13 of those years’ experience in the capital markets and investment banking industries. His current responsibilities at Aevitas Capital include managing the team of brokers who specialize in municipal finance.
Mr. Lawson holds Series 7, 66, 52 General Securities, Series 24 and 53 Principal Securities, Series 50 Municipal Advisor and Series 79 Investment Banking Representative licenses.
Mr. Lawson is a past active member of the Scottsdale Active 20-30 and has previously served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona.
Mr. Lawson and his wife, Allison, have two daughters Beckett and Makenna.
Wendi Young has been married for 32 years and has 3 children. She has a Master’s in Education and has been involved with educating children through being a Sunday school teacher and classroom teacher for 23 years. She currently is a substitute teacher, math tutor, and mentor.
Adam Goldberg has been involved in the Public Safety community nearly 35 years. Born in New York, Goldberg started his work as an ambulance EMT after completing high school in Phoenix, Arizona in 1984. Goldberg has attended Pima Community College and the University of Arizona.
Goldberg is the recipient of Associates Degrees in Paramedicine, Fire Science and General Studies. Captain Goldberg had completed most upper division courses for his Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, but followed his dreams of working in the fire service. Goldberg began his career in Tucson in 1989. He has held numerous positions including Firefighter, Paramedic, Captain, EMS supervisor, Hazardous Materials Captain, Public Information Officer and currently holds the rank of Captain/Paramedic.
He was also instrumental in development of a regional Tactical Paramedic program and worked as a Tactical Paramedic for the Pima County Regional S.W.A.T team. He is the recipient of several accolades including six (6) written commendations, Employee of the Year, three (3) Awards of Service and two (2) Awards of Merit during his career.
Goldberg has been recognized as an expert Witness in several western states for his work in the pre-hospital litigation arena. Away from work, Captain Goldberg along with his wife of 24 years (Shelby) keeps busy with three kids including 16-year-old twin boys and a 13-year-old daughter, a Leman Scholar. Captain Goldberg was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Northwest YMCA and currently sits on his homeowner’s association Executive Advisory Committee.
